Not a Race Fan

I’m not a race fan, but after this weekend I am a fan of going to the race.  I haven’t had such a good time in a long time.  I’m tired come Sunday night but it was worth it.

Things I learned this weekend:
11.        I live 18 minutes from house to parking spot at Bristol Motor Speedway
22.       Wear sunglasses because there is some major people watching to do
33.       Act like your checking you phone’s Facebook to take a covert picture of said people
44.       Get some subway and double bag that sandwich to save some $ in the stands
55.       Bring plenty of beer, good chance you will be sharing
66.       Rent headphones with a scanner/video (only way to go)
77.       Know how to use the scanner (took me 100 laps to figure it out)
88.       Park were you can get out quickly or plan on getting home late
99.       Tailgate like a champ
110.   If you don’t get free tickets, scalp them its way cheaper
111.   Bring a jacket, comfortable shoes, and lots of cash
112.   Did I mention the people watching?  Wow.

I can’t wait for next year.

On the other hand

I’ve never enjoyed weddings and recently I might have figured out why, they make me feel lonely.  But on the other hand I do really enjoy seeing two dear friends start their life together.  Having two flat tires in as many days (one of which was in the rain, late at night, after working 12 hours) is very frustrating.  But on the other hand I totally added a few notches to my “man card”.
No matter how bad a day goes, it is important to look at the other hand.
